Just to get a little discussion started again, let's create a list of the worst training mistakes that you've made. I've thought of hundreds of things I've done wrong, or really bad ideas that seemed like a good idea at the time, but the ones I'm willing to admit to are: - Training without a plan. Individual sessions that don't build on each other.
- Moving forward too quickly on partial and wobbly foundation training.
- Mistaking an incorrect response from the dog with willful disobedience.
OK trainers, true confessions time. What training mistakes have you made?

Hmmmmmmmmm. I don't know if I can remember all of them from waaaaay back when, but here are some I am guilty of now that I am older and have gotten lazy. These are just off the top of my head and I am sure I will think of a lot more to add to these. - Not having a consistant training routine
- Over looking "annoying" habits, instead of changing them

A few of the biggies for me: - Not working the training we'd learn into our daily schedule - sometimes, we'd have training on a Sunday night and I wouldn't practice what we learned until the following Friday!
- Expecting too much too soon and getting frustrated with Rocky - which really was more my fault >>>>see above!
I can't speak for the rest of you but despite my training errors through the training years (training never really stops but 8 weeks to 3 years are the most intensive) Rocky turned out pretty damn good. He taught me a lot about what works and doesn't and those are lessons I shall never forget! I think also getting to know some of the "best dog trainers" in the world from from waaaay back certainly also helped me immensely - you all mean the world to me.

I am guilty of one more: calling your dog by the wrong name. The number of times I have called Sailor Tarot and vice versa is truly shocking.
