Tarot is doing very well in basic obedience, and she's shown the ability to be placed into a strange environment and still focus and respond. She is a quick learner and she loves training. These are things that I selected for, so on that respect I am pleased.
She's acting and looking more like a Kelpie x Shepherd than anything else. One thing I am not familiar with is herding behaviors, which she has in spades. I have been introducing her on leash to the sheep and goats at the shelter, and on Friday night I saw her crouch and give the nearest sheep "the eye". She was quivering with excitement.
I've been trying to start basic flat work agility handling, and have run into a problem. She circles and nips at my legs rather than running straight. She's not mouthing, and it's not malicious, it's just instinctive.
So far, I've been telling her no, stopping, then going into the house and leaving her alone outside. I don't think she is making the link. Other ideas for dealing with this?
