I just moved into a house with a yard. I didn't have a yard before. My 11 mo Boxer, if left unattended is digging anywhere and everywhere when in the yard.
I suspect a good answer to this problem is to put some toys in the yard. Perhaps something he can play tug of war with hanging from a tree. I've never had a digging issue with my prior boxers. Any advice is appreciated.

;Yes it's me again the absent SIBEMOM Digging lets see what I can come up with for a profound answer for you WAIT I HAVE IT guess what DOGS LOVE TO DIG This must be so wonderful for your dog having a yard now, so what you need to do is DAMAGE CONTROLL I have found that a sand box or sand pit of sorts with buried treats, toys etc had curbed even my most intense digger and that was my dear Sibe Blade BLESS HIS HEART. If that does not work then you have to get a bit more intense yourself. I have cured and I mean that all of my present dogs which are 2 GSD's and one really anal BC from digging. I used an e-collar and with alot of attention and patients NONE of my dogs dig anymore. In fact I can even leave them out in the yard unattended and NONE of them even try to dig up foliage It took one day and a good quality collar and you bet NO ONE IS A LANDSCAPER OF ANY KIND I did appreciate the holes my dear Blade had dug for me in fact I planted a very nice shrub in the one hole but the rest of the dogs did not have the talent for landscaping like he did so digging was just totaly out of the question . That is my best suggestion because burying their poop BLAH BLAH BLAH just does not help. GOOD LUCK and if I were you I would pick out some nice foliage to plant in those lovely holes your dog is giving you.

Thanks Sybemom.
I'm trying to work, move and get my dog adjusted all at the same time. Unfortunately, any training schedule has fallen to the bottom of the priority list. I do use an ecollar, so I'll try to be more vigilant with that for the digging. I want to get to home depot and buy a section of strong bungie cord. He loves to play tug of war. I have a long section of cotton rope that he likes as a toy. The same stuff they sell a small length of in the pet store, but this is a 6' piece. My thought is to tie the bungie cord to one end and dangle it from a tree. He loves tug of war, so maybe this would be a fun game and help the digging thing. If all else fails, I'll try the intensive e collar training for the digging. It strikes me that giving him an alternate game should be part of the program though.
