We have two six month old lab/sharpe mix puppies. One of them in particular is exhibiting territorial protection signs. When visitors come to the door of the house in particular. Even visitors he knows already. How do I stop this? At least train him to stop barking/growling on comman. I guess protection wouldn't be bad in the right situation - but, for the most part, we do not want friendly visitors (which are 99%) to get this treatment. The pup seems to be fine after he sees us interacting with the visitors for a little while.

First you need to start estabishing leadership in your home. Start out by checking out this thread -> NILIF. Secondly I would keep a leash on him. You need to correct him each time he exhibits the unwanted behavior. Show him you are in control of the situation. I'm also a bit concerned about the age similarities of both pups and being together in one home. How long has this been the case and how is it working out? How are you handling and training them? How much time are they spending together?
