My close friend just got a new 8 month old JRT. Because she works, I visit "Jax" twice a day to let him out. I am not a total stranger - I was there when she picked him up from the breeder and I spent time with him his first few days home. I have always been gentle and slow with him. However, he doesn't wet on the floor until I open the door to let him out. Everytime I approach him in the house, he wets on the floor.
Is this normal? Does he just need more time? Is it me?

Hi and welcome to the board . "Eight month old" and "picked up from breeder" in the same sentence is usually not a good sign , I have the feeling that this pup may have some issues already. Submissive urination will usually peter out (no pun intended ;D) on it's own, but it's important how you respond to it. Never say anything to the dog when it does start to pee, just get him outside as fasr as possible, but keep a relaxed demeanor. Is he crate trained? And what times during the day are you there to let him out?

Thanks for the advice. Now, I know what to call it...submissive urination.
He was "crate trained." The new owner wants to see how he does confind to the mudd room with an open crate before confining him all day in the crate. I visit him every 2 hours.
