hi folks..haven't posted in awhile..still waiting for a new password (that's ok, Richard..I am a very understanding, patient person). Here's my problem-sorta.. I just moved into a townhse dev and pets are allowwed. I've seen larger dogs and Ringo (now my son's WGS) who visits almost every wkend, gets excited whenever he's here. He's met a lot of canine friends, large and small, and that tail of his keeps on wagging! Just this week, the Association of this dev passed out a revision to their Animal control rules. Now, the dogs are not allowed to soil, defecate, urinate on any grassy area!! or pee on a tree/shrubbery. A petowner must pick up feces of their pet from roadways..am i crazy to go crazy on this? i totally understand not doing it on people's lawns..i usually bring him to a grassy area where people would normally not walk or hang out. will a dog normally be able to be trained to go on pavement? need yr expeert adv.. thanks again.. as always marsha

Thank you for your patience Marsha but unfortunately, the delay can't be helped.
For some reason, we (mods) and Brooke, lost the ability to modify and/or change passwords. Whether this was in a recent code change or what I don't know. With Brooke having limited internet access, it's been difficult to try to troubleshoot the issue as well.
I'm making inquiries with the hosts to see what is going on and if we can get back those functions.
Stay tuned.

Ok, I've lived in a Condo town house development and unfortunately, as you've seen, it just takes the complaint of one individual (usually a sour-puss!) to force the Association to make stupid rules like that - that is the part that sucks about living in Condos (or residences where there is a Board of Directors, Rules/Bylaws ect). Our Board wasn't as stupid or nearsighted as that but they did require dogs to be leashed up in the "common areas" of the complex so they wouldn't be running loose. By your note, is Ringo not even allowed to go on your own property? I would strongly suggest that you consider getting together with the other dog owners of the complex and bring a petition forward to the Association to rescind or at least modify the requirements of where the dogs can and can't go. Simply saying " do it on the pavement" is stupid and unrealistic. The problem stems from some of the mentalities of those who live in those kinds of places. Trust me, my wife, daughter and Rocky went through 2 years of hell at the one we lived in before we got out - that was what we had to do to keep our sanity. The first 3 years were great but the neighbor beside us move out and a couple of %%##@$# morons moved in and the trouble started from day one and it was bad. Yeah, that is a worse case scenario but as you've witnessed, it can and does happen when people dig their heels in. Stuff like this is a pain in the ass to deal with because this is your home and community yet you're dealing with stubborn, narrow minded and vindictive people that are also your neighbors. Get together with the other pet owners and see what they think about getting together for a petition - the voice of many can work when it comes to changing minds. (btw, where cats included in this bylaw?)

well, it looks like even our own lawn..they did say "lawns" as one of the areas..but did not say "except your own"... they didn't say anything aabout cats...they just stated "pets" ,they didn't specify dog or cat. i will deefinitely talk to my neighbors and start something...I would really like them to appoint a specific area..because there are some grassy parts in the dev that it doesn't belong or not near any units and it is a bit hilly. i will keep u posted... thanks marsha

Hi Marsha,
Yeah, cuz I'd be interested if cats were included. As well, if there is a common area that is away from the residences there is no reason why that couldn't be used as long as the dog owners kept it clean. That would be the other side of this: the dog owners would be responsible for picking up after their pets to keep up their end of the bargain.
Please do keep us posted.
Richard
btw, you get your email for the account info?

yes, Richard..I got yr email ..thank you very much for the passwd.
well, I talked to a couple of neighbors who've lived here with dogs and for at least 3yrs+. they said to not take it seriously...as long as you're cleaning up aafter yr dog..its ok. they said they only send that out to show the other people (maybe the ones that complain) that they did what they had to do..to send out a notice...but in reality, there's really no "poop police" ... and they know that there are dog owners on the Board...so ... jeez...I have to get used to this style of living..and downsizing from a single house is a BIG change definitely. o well... thanks again Richard!!
