Greetings all,
So typically when I cannot watch the dog for few minutes, I will put him in my bedroom. I went through some painstaking measures to " dog proof" my room so this can be a safe zone where there's nothing he can get into and destroy while I am not watching him. He is usually in there with me at night while I am sleeping and he has never gotten into anything.....until this morning.
I put him in there while taking a shower (a morning ritual) and when I came back, I noticed that the money I had taken out of the ATM last night was gone. My dog ate my money! Nothing was left, not a scrap.
I had it on my dresser against the back wall where (I thought) it was out of reach. He is tall enough now that he can put his head on the edge if he stretches his neck, so I thought it was safe. He must have jumped up and snatched it.
Anyway, I am now out $160. Now the question remains: Should I try and recover the money from the other end? And if so, anyone know how I can speed up the process?
I read an article just last week of a dog that ate $800 and the woman managed to get almost all of it back (I can post the link if that is allowed). She taped it together and changed it in at the bank. While the idea of sifting through poop over the next few days is not a charming one, neither is losing $160.
Has this happened to anyone else? Will he just digest it and I am out of luck? Or is there a good chance he will poop it all out and I can recover most if not all of it?
Arg! He just pooed and there were a few scraps of $20 bills in there.
