I've determined that Rocky has 2 shedding seasons and each lasts about 6 months.... I know where you're coming from Ann....I swear Rocky has probably provided more birds around here with nest insulation from his fur flying when we're grooming than they could find themselves.... I just gotta stop talking when I'm groomin' cuz I do suck back a lotta fur....yeeech..

Seriously, I vacuum up a min-pin every week! I though having a short haired dog would be less shedding. Nope, just makes short fur all over the house.

Sailor is shedding too, which seasonally I think is out of kilter - she should be putting hair on for fall, but apparently no one's told her. It's all undercoat coming out - where does it all come from - she's not that big. I don't understand how it can keep coming and coming and she's not bald yet.
How about a contest? We could all gather up the shed for a week, weight it, and winner gets . . . the glory.

O.K. Everyone!!! Less than a week ago we splurged and bought a Dyson DC07! Oh My Gawd! This vacuum cleaner is amazing! The first time we used it, we had to empty the bin about 8 times...pet fur and fine dust and dirt! I was amazed and grossed out! Check it out! www.dyson.com

I am glad I am not the only one with fur flying everywhere. I thought it was too early for her to be shedding. I guess not! I hadn't even realized how bad it was until I did laundry. My lint catcher had as much dog hair as it did lint. I guess I will have to step up on the vaccuming. I don't understand though... why would their be dog hair in the laundry?? She is crated still unless she is eating, poohing, or sitting with me. I don't let her have free reign in the house anymore.

I got dog hair in the laundry too...it seems to really stick good to the kids pajama's. Another reason we invested in the 'space ship' vacuum cleaner!!! LOL Serious...if you can swing purchasing one? Go For It! You will not be disappointed!

If I had my own house I probably would go for it. I just recently found out that they don't make sweeper bags for our vaccum cleaner anymore. I had to rig the last bag we had so that I can just empty it and close it up again. When we get settled I will probably have to break down and buy a new vaccum cleaner unless I can figure something out. I can't find any other bags that fit.

I am always looking for the *perfect* grooming combs and brushes for long haired dogs. I asked groomer's what they use, and they all say they use the large *slicker* brushes and an ordinary comb...so I went and bought those. My dogs HATE them! They pull! I have rakes, pin brushes, rubber thingies.... Grooming is still a chore and ends in frustration for all of us. Well, I think now I have found the solution. I got a new JB Wholesale catalogue and in it they have combs and rakes with teeth that swivel ! They are advertised saying groomer's are *raving* about them, because *they glide through long thick coats and easily remove tangles*, so they gotta work, right? I ordered a rake, and I also ordered a *Miller's Forge Designer Series* pin brush, which cost $16.95!!! BUT, is advertised as having a *particularly soft touch, exceptionally gentle on coat*, so what is $$$$ compared to my dogs comfort, right? ;D I will let you all know if they are as advertised!

I seriously have dog fur in my refridgerator . Is NO PLACE FUR-FREE!!! for the kitchen floor, we bought a "floor mate". Its the BEST for hard floors! I had forgotten what color the floor was! Before, I would swiffer (okay job), vacuum (better, but very time consuming) and THEN mop. Now, I do all at once!

I was considering one because they say they are o.k. for *sealed wood floors* which we have and I just vacuum and damp mop, but does the water have a cleaner in it? I'm afraid to use any cleaner's on my wood floors, and if they are designed to be used with a cleaner, I didn't think it would do any better than mopping, except maybe that the dirty water gets sucked up rather than spread around like with an ordinary mop?

I HATE my floor mate! Emptying it is the most disgusting thing ever! Imagine emptying your vaccuum cleaner and all the contents are WET. It clogs all the time and leaves my floor streaky AND it doesn't squirt cleaner anymore. I still use it - but I have to use the regular vaccuum cleaner first and use my own spray bottle to squirt cleaner on the floor. You are right Loey - it is nice to have the dirty water sucked up...that is the ONLY good thing about it... Dobemom maybe we are just nastier than you and the floormate can't handle us ?
