Hi all! I just wanted to let everyone know about the website that I visit often. I also donate to them. When I'm finished with school and moved out I will be more involved in deaf dog rescue. But for now, all I can do is help out with me donations and educate people about deaf dogs. Please take a look at this site! It's got a ton of great info. Thanks!!!www.deafdogs.org

I guess I was a bit disappointed that about the omission of one important point. It is money-driving, uninformed and simply stupid people who are creating breedings that are congentially deaf. Far too much of this goes on in some breeds, and there doesn't seem to be a concentrated effort to stop it. Finding homes for the defectively bred is a good cause, but where's the education? If the tide is never stopped, the lifeguards have an endless job. Teaching people how do deal with an older dog who has gradually lost hearing, or a dog who goes deaf through accident or illness is another matter. It took me a long time to figure out that yelling at a deaf dog is the definition of 'useless'. Jody and I figured out our own sign language, but we could have used some help.
