The thing I was trying so hard not to say last night in the General Discussion post is that breed bans have been in place in various parts on the world for over a decade. They have not resulted in fewer dog bites per capita dog or human. In no location, over any period of time, anywhere in the world, by any measure. Universally they have not worked and have been proven useless. Not once has a breed ban on any breed produced that desired result of making humans safer. So sane people who wanted to fix the problem rather than grandstanding would try a different tactic. Like, maybe holding owners responsible and teaching dog safety in schools. Yet governments still often knee-jerk breed bans in, including my own state. Welcome to NSW, Pit Bull free, and apparently proud of it. Shame about that Border Collie cross that attacked a 2 year old girl that I heard about on the news tonight. The parents were letting her wrestle on the floor with the dog.

It is the same with gun control. In places where they have it, the crime rates have gone up, because the criminals sure aren't handing their guns over to authorities. I know people point out all the accidental shootings when kids get ahold of the guns their parents have etc., but just like blaming the breed of dog, they blame the gun and think that taking away all guns will solve the problem, when it has been proven that it does not! O.k...my "rant" for the day.
