[rant]Yes... things have been getting thick at work lately. Maybe the fact that our department is being bombarded with more responibilities that we have the ability to accomplish everyday has much to do with my edginess. And although I love my company and love my job, some days I want to go
We have 4 people in our department if you count my boss who is never on the phones. That leaves 3 of us. We are the wire department, debit card department, online banking department, part of operations, and customer service to cut the list VERY short. The amount of responsibility that gets dumped on our department because no one else wants to deal with it is insane. Not to mention I take on average 70 external calls a day. This does not include the support we have to give to the internal branch members.
Disclaimer: this is not directed at anyone here. I'm just needing to go off on a tangent for a minute to relieve some of my frustrations.
1. Certain LAWS i.e. "PRIVACY LAWS" were put into place by our FEDERAL GOVERNMENT restricting just about every company from diclosing any personal information to anyone other than the account owner(s). This is why every single solitary year, every single solitary institution has to mail out privacy disclosures to you in the mail (of which most people do not read but throw away).
This goes for financial insitutions of ANY kind... insurance companies, cellular companies... ect. ect. It drives me absolutely bonkers that people will call on any random person's account and expect us to divulge personal information... giving us one excuse or another as to why it's "rediculous" and they "should be" privvy to the info, be it a personal or business checking account or loan, investments or whatever. And when we won't disclose it they go off on us!
HELLO!! If any random person called wanting information on your account how much would you appreciate us freely doing so?! WHY ARE YOU SHOCKED? What business is it of anyone's who isn't on the account! I don't care if you do your bosses records. I don't care if you are the record keeper or auditor. I don't care if you are the wife, son, daughter. If you were meant to have that information why didn't you both take the time to put you on it?
If your name is not on the account it is not LEGAL to give any spouse, relative, friend, co-worker or associate of ANY kind account information of ANY KIND end of story. I could lose my job. I could be fined tens of thousands of dollars. I COULD GO TO PRISON. If you think screaming at me is going to change that... go at it till you turn blue! I don't care.
Doesn't matter the relationship. Doesn't matter the circumstances. If it is THAT important take the time out of your day and legally GET YOUR NAME PUT ON THE ACCOUNT!!
I'm not taking liability. I don't know you. I don't care how many curse words you scream at me or how many names you call me. I'M NOT GIVING YOU SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
I don't know your situation. I don't know if there is a divorce proceeding that's being kept from me. I don't know if there are child support cases going on, or who owes who money and people trying to find out debts owed to benefit themselves in court. I don't know if you are some random person who got a check somehow, with the account information on the bottom, and is trying to see how much they can take someone for.
Too many shady people out there for me to "trust" because you sound like a nice person. ALL CON-ARTISTS SOUND NICE. I'm not falling for that. It's a law for a reason. If you call a company and they don't know you and are not doing this they are not complying with the law. In the end while it may be convienient, it could bite you in the rear.
2. YOU ARE YOUR OWN PERSON. It irritates me how many females lose their identity once they marry. We are in a day and age where it is LAW to have your identification information listed on your accounts. When I ask you to identify YOURSELF, I mean YOU. When I ask you for YOUR birthdate... I do not mean YOUR HUSBANDS, I mean YOU. If I ask you for just the last four of your social I DO NOT MEAN YOUR HUSBANDS, I mean YOURS. You were given your own for a reason. You have not lost your identity because you are married!
Sorry rough day at the office...
