OK - I have not been so FURIOUS in a long while, and what do you do with this feeling?
My sister comes to visit, and she and my father start cracking jokes about what a disobedient dog Anastasia is.
" She is not well trained, she is disobedient, she only does tricks. She only obeys and order if she thinks it is a trick" ha ha very funny.
The background:
My husband and me are living in a flat attached to my parents house at the moment. When my parents got their new dog, (Ana) it soon became clear that I was the only one interested in training her. She was a real handful, biting, jumping, whining, barking etc and I was worried about her bothering my parents especially as my mother is very sick.
Since then she has become my dog as I spend so much time working with her. Cant complain about that!
We've gone through a lot with her, many tough times when I felt like she was a hound from hell. Usually the stuff she did would not bother me so much, but I realy stressed out thinking that she was bothering my parents and other family members. That was a big motivation for me, getting her to behave in an acceptable manner. Its not the main thing for me anymore, as I got into training and agility for its own sake , and enjoy it very much, so I'm no martyr.
Now I feel things are realy going well. She stil has some problems, but the main ones are either sorted out or getting a LOT better. We have recently been promoted to level four obedience and intermediate agility. I am SO PROUD OF HER i could burst. She is so brave and listens to me so well.
I know my father loves her as well, but he thinks a dog should be like a machine - order and obey, switch it off when you dont want it around. She knows that he disaproves of her. She will be lying calmly in the room, and when he comes in, she will start rolling her eyes and wriggling around, and then start talking, out of sheer stress that he is going to shout at her again.
If you only knew her, she is such a friendly girl and so eager to please, it drives me wild when my family make remarks like this. After all that stress I went through to get her to be like she is now - a high spirited girl who listens to me, and tries her best to please everyone around her.
