Well, you’re braver than me Nicki! cathy I don't know that "brave" is a word I would use to descibe me on this issue. Coward would be more accurate. ;D

You both aren't *cowards*....just extremely cautious and that's a good thing! ;D
When I first heard about the rawfeeding I found every arguement in the book against it, but the more I learned, the more my gut feeling told me it was the way to go with my dogs because of their problems. Problems many other people were having with their dogs and the rawfeeding was helping. I fought it for a loooong time though, and even had a *false start* at one point. The next time I started, I stuck with it and am happy I did.
I can see why you both are hesitant. Your dogs are doing fine. If mine had been doing o.k. on the ki**le, I never would have switched, but I was desperate to find something that would help their skin and Kerra's ear problems and the rawfeeding was it.
When Pup first got ill and Magda thought it could be from an inbalance of Omega's, I entertained the thought of going back to commercial food, but I could not think of one brand that I thought would work for us, and then of course, I found out it wasn't the raw diet at all that made him ill, and it probably gave him one more year of a better quality life! I am extremely thankful for giving Pup this past year and for having the memories of him looking and acting so much healthier.
If and when the time is right, Nicki, you will decide to switch too. The misgiving's are perfectly normal. It is such an entirely foreign concept to us to feed our dogs raw meat and *egads* bones? Dogs should NOT have bones!
Yesterday the Vet told me he got some information *again* from somewhere...I don't recall...(probably a dog food manufacturer or something!) and it said, *absolutely no raw meat*. I asked him why that was, and he stated the bacteria thing. I let him talk and then said, "Well, I've been feeding raw now for about a year and have had no problems and I know many other people who have been feeding raw for a lot longer and they have not had any problems either". That ended the discussion, but when he said..."Hey...whatever works", I thanked him for being so open minded and told him I appreciate it.
