Day One...
Diet plan for week one... Chicken quarters.
She didn't eat anything at all. She was excited to see her bowl then I put it down on the floor she gave it a couple of licks and then left it alone.
Tried again in the evening... Same. Tried again around 11pm.. Same result.
Day Two.....
Still not eating... I know she has got to be hungry she hasn't eaten in almost three days.
I cut off some chunks. nothing..
I even tried to make a game of catch out of it hoping to trick her into taking that first bite. Nada.
<banging head on desk> She has always been a little touchy in the food dept., but this is nuts.

Is she eating yet? You might try breaking an egg over the chicken to see if the smell interests her.

Nope... I tried a few different things, cutting em up.. even cooking it just a tad. Nothing worked. So I posted about it at the email list. Basically the response was don't try anything... She either eats it that way or goes hungry and either I put my foot down now or she will just keep pulling this. <sigh> I wonder how long she will hold out.... They think she will eat when she gets hungry enough. But 4 days? Sheesh.

Be strong just make sure she has water and she will come around. She will not starve herself it only seems like it. If chicken isnt her thing then maybe try something else. I would try some beef shank if you can get it resonable, or maybe some pork hocks. Just stick with it. Have you tried the ground turkey yet? That is how we started. I used ground turkey with an egg, then started slowley adding the chicken quarters etc... In the very beggining I was mixing with kibble, but then I after a few days I just went cold turkey with it. Canned salmon or sardines in water are another thing to try.

Finally!!! 6 Days later....
I guess she just doesn't like chicken. I have tried every which way to get her to eat that stuff. SHEESH!!
I had gotten her some liver.. That hadn't worked either. I even was naughty and mixed up some cooked food with some small peices of chicken. Nothing.
Finally this morning I went out and got her some pork neck and some Ox tails. Figured I would try something with a bone. She took the pork neck with out even so much as a fuss. A quick sniff and a lick and she carried it away to under the table. 3 minutes later was back for some more. I have only given her a bite every couple of hours because I don't want her to get sick from eating to much after going hungry.
So for now the fast is up... YAY!!

LOL Brook on the hubby and the mackrel..
The oxtail wasn't that expensive.. But then again most of the not so popular meats are fairly cheap. She didn't eat em anyways... I offered the pork necks first... she ate em so she is stuck on pork for a week or two. Probably two.. She turns her nose up at it still half the time.
Any one ever seen this?? Crazy dog... She won't eat in the mornings now. I have no idea why. I offer the bones.. she turns her nose up at them in disinterest and I put them back in the fridge. Come evening she is tearing them up. Also I am going to have to find something in the pork department that is bigger because she practically swallows these things whole. sheesh.
I must say she is looking very very good right now. I feel bad in some ways for her crash diet but she doesn't look so chunky now. She looks beautiful. I am so shocked because its only been a few days. I thought it was wishful thinking but this morning he was saying how soft her coat has become, almost as soft as it was when we first got her. She is just the shiniest softest black there ever was. So now he is off my back about the switch which is good because I was close to doing bodily injury. (which would have hurt me more than him)

Ohhh I almost forgot... she may look good and all but man she stinks. My house has never smelled like dog and since I switched her (including the week she didn't eat) this place smells so bad I have to spray with Lysol while she is out on the line. I am hoping this will pass.
