Just a few shots of the sheppy's from our recent camping trip. The best place we found for them to relax after a long day on the beach was our 4000lb crate (aka our taurus wagon) It worked out well...they'd stay and relax on thier scooby doo blanket and we'd be able to relax too. For a first time camper, Nikki did a great job. You'd think she'd been camping as long as Rocky. We got lots of compliments from passerby's and lots more on how quiet they were (always a plus in a busy campground!). Of course, there were plenty of sticks on the dog beach so Rocky never ran out of them...Nikki was new to all this but caught on quick to the fun involved in chasing them out into the lake and bringing them back....not to mention keeping cool in the 90+ weather the last few weeks!!

You know those two look so much alike I can't tell who is who What a nice pair of dogs you got there Richard, and I am so glad that Nicki is coming along so well. You know your dogs have a longer coat than Willow does, hers is pretty short. She did'nt even get that fluffy this winter. Is it because she is still young? Now that I think about it, her mom had a coat like your dogs, and her dad was more the shorter, course coat. Well I am so glad you guys had a good time, it's nice to get away, I know I am looking forward to it

Hi Ann, In the top shot, Nikki is on the left and Rocky is on the right --- and yeah, you're right, somedays I have problems figuring out who is who..."Nik...Rock.er..Nikki-Ro...", "...hey you, get over here!". She's about 65lb now (a perfect weight for her) and he's about 89lb. He'd put on a few pounds over the winter but between our longer walks now and blowing about 2 lbs of fur, he's back to slim and trim. Thier dad had short hair but was a black and tan sheppy. He weighed in about 95lb. Thier mom, Ulla, was about 65lb too and was mostly gold with some black. Her fur was longer and I think both Rocky and Nikki got that...they both have really furry hind quarters. It's always amazing what traits get handed down to the litters from the parents. Yeah, it was good to get away but nice to get back. I know you guys will have fun too come August!

See I would have guessed Nicki on the right because the black mark on the forehead looks the same as in the lower picture. It must be the wet fur. I guess it doesn't look as bold though. It's so hard to tell! 24 lbs is a big difference too but they look so similiar! They are beautiful.

Thank you..they're a couple of good lookin' sheps that is for sure!! We are very fortunate to have them in our lives.
As for telling them apart, that is Rocky's other nickname ... we call him Diamondhead for the mark on the top of his head...Nikki has one too, but it's not as pronounced.

Thanks Amyjo....I appreciate that...they get along like they've been together right from day one. Nikki has only been with us a bit over six months but she's fit right in to our "pack".
They spent a lot of time lying beside each other in the back of the wagon(it was a nice alternative to lying on the sand of the campsite).
I know Rocky likes having her around. I think, at this point, he doesn't remember what it was like being by himself around here. Around the house, they spend a lot of time curled up near each other --- which is usually wherever I am.
He is still #1 sheppy around here and Nikki is ok with that...I couldn't ask for anything better!!

Richard, what great pictures , what a great way to take a vacation, away from it all with the pooches and people you love the most! Although, I too, have a serious case of "sheppy lust" after seeing those pics ;D.
