This is the plan I was going to follow for my practice equipment, but I found a perfect sized wooden frame being thrown out from a construction site, so I sanded and painted that for my frame.
But I reckon this would work as well and be much lighter.
I plan to work on a Dog Walk soon, will post that if I am successful.
Materials:
Hardware:
1 10’ length of 4” rubber or soft plastic
drainage pipe
1 4”x ¼” Clothesline hook with nut
2 6” x 5/16” threaded eye bolts with nuts
4 4” x ¼” threaded eye bolts with nuts
1 Clothesline
5’ Medium weight chain
1 Plastic cable tie
1 Hacksaw for cutting PCV pipe
Frame
1 ½” PVC Cut into the following lengths:
2 5’ lengths
2 40” lengths
2 3” lengths
4 20” lengths
2 90° Elbows
4 T-connectors
4 End caps
PCV glue (optional for joint strenght)
Directions:
1. Form corrugated drainage pipe into circle with a 22 – 24” diameter. Duct tape the point where the ends come together so it stays in a circle.
2. Form a square with the 5’ lengths and 40” lengths using 2 elbows at the top and 2 T-connectors at the bottom. (Glue all connections for strength, leave unglued for a portable jump that can be broken down for storage.)
3. Add the 3” pieces to the bottoms of the T-connectors and attach the other two T-connectors. Attach the 20” lengths to form the stable base. Put the end caps on the legs.
4. With a ¼” bit, drill a hole vertically through the center of the top crossbar and secure the clothesline hook.
5. Drill 2 more vertical holes in the top crossbar close to the elbows and 2 holes in the bottom crossbar close to the T-connectors. Secure the 4” x ¼” eye bolts.
6. Drill 2 holes into the sides of the tire and secure the 6” x 5/16” eye bolts. Wrap the chain around the top of the tire and secure with plastic cable tie.
7. Hang tire on hook. Run clothesline from top eye bolt, through eye bolt on the tire, to bottom eye bolt. Make sure tire is centered between the uprights.
8. Adjust the tire to desired height. You can mark different heights on the chain for reference. (Note that once your dog is jumping the required height for his size, the tire should remain at that height.)
This is what the finished product should look like:
Dog not included.
