Over the 4 day Easter break, which I turned into a 5 day break, I've been running a mini agility camp for Finn in my backyard. Working in 1/2 hour blocks, we're doing 5 or 6 sessions per day. I'm using course ideas from the latest edition on Clear Run magazine, and isolating items to work on in each session. Finn had no problem with today's 180 turns exercises, so I made him my model for a photo shoot. I don't know if you know how hard it is to handle the dog and get a good photo off at the same time, but most of my shots were trashed immediately. This one turned out nice. I think I'll entitle it "Intensity".

Probably part slope and part bad camera angle. I do live in the mountains, and while I've got a lot of flat I've got a lot of sloping, too.
If I ever get visited by one of those back yard makeover shows, my wish would be for more flat grassy area to do agility. Finn must think weave poles are supposed to run up hill.
And I probably shouldn't mention this, but he knocked me over right after this photo.

See, I knew it, he had that look of love in his eye....... Just his way of showing you his appreciation for such a super course you set up...."ahhh there she is.....love love love.....ooooffffffff kapow thump...kiss kiss kiss kiss....." The next shot was probably of the sky with you on your back....with Finn looking down... Ahh, you gotta love these furry guys eh....? As for your backyard...yeah, it is a good size...do you guys have those kinds of shows down there too? -Richard

What a great picture! I wish I had that kind of room to train in, slope or no slope. BTW, what breed is Finn? Rhodesian mix? I love his mask and ears !

What an awesome picture - he looks like a real workin' dog! I love the intensity on his face!!!! Handsome boy and awesome trainer - I can barely handle a "sit" and a photo at the same time - so I am really impressed!

Thanks all. 'What is Finn' is a game we all play. I think he's a Rhodesian Ridge/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. It would explain a lot. He's got a Rhody personality with a bit of edge.
He was kind of funny looking as a pup, but once he muscled up and grew into his big bull head it all came together pretty nice.
His ears can stand straight up when he's in hunting mode or when he's feeling devilish. He can also have one up and one down. When they down, his ears are his cutest part, but when they are up he looks like an evil African Hunting dog.

No worries. There is a shocking lack of agility equipment in this country- there's a business opportunity! I should set myself up as a distributor. Everything I have at home I've gotten off the net or made myself. I'm pretty sure I purchased the tunnel from Affordable Agility (www.affordableagility.com), although I checked there and they want $80 for the tunnel I have, and I know I didn't pay more than $60. (in your money Sometimes cheap stuff can be had on ebay. Like there's some 5 foot tunnels for $30 for sale now. Dilar Designs and Biggs are both good to deal with.

Just make sure you check people's feedback ratings thoroughly on Ebay....a shady place that can be.... Ebay is so addictive. I love it but it's a little scary how easiliy you can get screwed.

;D Love the picture, Laura!! And I agree that Finn is sure a *looker* (in more ways than one!) That's funny about him knocking you down! Are points taken off for doing that in a competition? ;D

I'm pretty sure running into your dog, having your dog knock you down, having your dog bite you, and running along with your dog hanging off your arm are all disqualifing faults . . .
Finn and I have some work to do!

Ok, Finn needs to work on quick down on the table, and I had set up to do "Table Games" out of the July issue of Clean Run. Finn must have read the article too, because he was actually landing on the table in a down. So after about ten times of doing it perfectly, we did some photography. You've heard of shadow boxing; why not shadow agility?
