My brother called me asking if I knew anyone that wanted a 7 year old Newfoundland mix. From the story he gave, his friend was planning on moving to a new place with his new girlfriend. The girlfriend thought the new place was "pretty" and it is more expensive than their place now. There was one problem. They couldn't have a dog that size in the new place. They told my brother they were going to take the dog to the pound so it could find a "new loving" home. My brother endured my 30 minute rant and afterward I gave him numbers to around 10 rescues in our area. He does have one lead to someone looking for a dog and I hope that it works out. My brother says the dog is a very loving dog and he would take him if he had the space. I hope the friend will grow a pair and tell his girlfriend that he will not get rid of his dog but I doubt that will happen. If his relationship with his girlfriend doesn't go well, I hope he realizes his mistake of dumping a loyal companion of 7 years and never does it again.

Yes, relationships come and go, but your ever loyal best friend, your dog, will remain with you forever if you let them.
I could never, ever give up my dogs as long as I am breathing, and I know all of us here feel the same way.
Yesterday when I was taking my dogs for their walk "out back", I met the neighbor lady walking her dog and we stopped to talk. All 3 dogs were off leash, but while her dog ran around etc., my two just stood there next to me, looking up at me and she commented on that, saying how they kept looking at me with such "love" in their eyes. I think they were trying to tell me..."Let's get going", but I prefer to think it's love too! ;D
