For all of those who are raising a puppy, I highly reccomend this book. It is extremely easy to read, and only 142 pgs! It is written by Bobbie Anderson.
"Building drive, focus, and motivation in a puppy through goal oriented play and a variety of other positive experiences."
If you care to learn more about this book I found it on Dogwise.com for $19.95. Or I found it in the public library.

Thanks for the recommendation. It just arrived today, but I've had a thumb through and it looks good. For those familiar with the Flinks/Leerburg method of building grip, drive and focus, this book is similar in technique, but uses average pet owner type games to build attentiveness and lay the foundation for retrieves, heeling and recalls.
Only one complaint. I wish they used a wider range of dogs. Most of the photos are of puppy Border Collies, which are dead easy to train.

Border Collies aren't all easy to train...thats like saying all lab are easy to train. The majority of them are, but I've met a few 'heardheaded' labs and border collies in my days. ;D I'll have to check out that book as well...sounds pretty good.

Of course, there are no absolutes in dog training. My point was drive and energy are GENERALLY NOT something you need to add to a Border Collie. And they are generally speaking AS A BREED one of the most trainable dogs.

Really? Hmm...maybe I'll have to get a border collie as my next dog. ;D I love (okay, not love, but it does make a nice challenge) the 'hard' dogs, but theres nothing like an easy dog for a 'breather'. ;D Sorry about that...never reading the book I shouldn't have commented on that (considering its on building drive and focus). Anyways, I'm tired, so I'm going to bed. ;D

Just finished this, and if you are interested in competing in any dog sport, or just want a high performance dog who is focused on you, I strongly recommend this book. Thanks, Sage. Good call.
