Does anyone here have experience with herding? Since Cori, my Cardi Corgi, is doing so well in agility and really coming out of her shell, I think I want to start herding with her. She really likes to run around the outside of the round pen and chase the horses (while the horses are inside the round pen). She seems interested. She also herds people and other dogs around so I think it would be good for her.
Any info anyone could provide would be great! Thanks!

Let me dig through my doggie book collection. I have several books on training a herding dog. I do drills with Willow and its almost like playing tag in a sense. A dog with the natural instinct to herd is the easiest to train, because all you do is direct them, and like with any dog the first thing they must have is a 100% recall Let me see if I can find those books and I will post the titles. Loey and I were talking about that getting the dogs out somewhere and seeing how they do on sheep. I think it would be alot of fun. ;D

Ok the books I have are OLD Not sure they are in print anymore but here they are: "Anybody Can Do It" by Pope Robertson "Sheep Dog: It's Work and Training" by Tim Longton and Edward Hart "Training and Working Dog's For Quiet Confident Control of Stock" Scott Lithgow There is another Book out there that I am going to buy and it is: "Herding Dog's, Progressive Training" by Virgil S Holland This book is suppose to be very good at explaining the whole process. I don't know if there are video's I would suppose so.
