Well Sadie has her yearly Vet check next week but I may move it up depending. They have had Evo, California Natural, and Kibbles and Bits (don't ask ) for canned food lately. I know the Kibbles and Bits has wheat gluten. Both dogs get half a can a day that I use to mix their vitamins and such in. Their dry food is Life's Abundance. Sometimes I mix other dry food in with it but not in the last month.

I think that Lifes Abundance does not have any wheat. Neither does the Evo or Calif Natural but both of these canned are manufactured by Menufoods. I was so disgusted to hear this. They are supposed to be one of the highest quality foods and they outsource to a company that makes supermarket brands. Do they have high quality chickens set aside just for Evo. I doubt it. It makes me sick. I emailed Natura and told them so. I haven't heard back yet. I asked for an explanation and how they can be certain their canned was not contaminated in the processing.
As for kibbles and bits I am not sure about this brand. It isn't on th recall list but I don't know if it is made by menufood.

It makes me sick. I am in shock...really. I know I shouldn't be. I use to work in a plant that made hotdogs and lunch meat. Many of the products where the same exact recipe with a different label slapped on it. If a company wanted a different recipe they still used the same mechanically separated chicken we put in the lower grade products. They NEVER ordered special vats of chicken or beef. All the meat suppliers where the same for all the hotdogs and lunchmeat we produced. They just had different % of meat and spices. There was only ONE brand that required we did extra QC reports and stop the line to wash all machinery before and after we produced their product to keep their contract. The same brand also shipped their own spices to us. Still, the same meat though.

This just gets worse, doesn't it? I have gone back to all raw and will not mess around with commercial foods again! I have finally admitted that when I try to feed kibble and raw, even if not at the same meal or on the same day, that is when my dogs get stomach upsets. I think Aussie posted that once, but I am a slow learner. What I am so amazed about is that when I ask people I know what they think about the pet food "thing", they are all so unconcerned, even though they are feeding the recalled brands, or will just say..."Oh...I feed Diamond (or whatever) and it's not on the list". "Hello"? Nestle/Purina wasn't on "the list" at first either, but I took my dogs off of it anyway and went back to the raw, because I did not want to take any chances.

The problem has hit Australia due to sourcing wheat gluten from China. Only Hills Science Death, I mean Diet, has recalled SOME of their products. And the announcement was pretty low key. If I didn't work in the animal industry, I don't think I would know. And you know all the manufacturers probably use the same factory but they are not saying anything.
