Ooooh, I think I've found our new diet!! I gave Ripley a chicken drumstick & he ate very willingly, it's been about 7 hours and he's been able to handle it VERY well. Amyjo, is there a way I can train him to hold the food down? He doesn't seem to want to touch it with his paws.. Also, he didn't eat any bone at all, just ate meat & ignored the bone entirely.. The bone was pretty thick though, should I feed something like chicken ribs instead?

You don't need to train him to hold food down - just let him figure it out. He may never do it...but he still managed to eat. Some do - some don't.
About the bones. I am hopelessly ignorant when it comes to small dogs. Maybe that is why flolks like to feed the wings and necks. The leg bone was probably too thick. You can try chicken breasts or do the wing/ neck thing with a side of meaty/meat from the leg.
OR you could try something little like game hen or cornish hen and see how he does with that. But a few boneless meals are fine in any case.
