This is kind of strange, only the first post on this thread can be replied to, and Nicki's other thread is totally whack on the reply. Anyway, I can appreciate the 'Must be exact' obession. I am completely the other way when cooking, completely improv. I see a receipe as a starting point. I almost never make the same dish twice. It would stress me to have to be precise. Leerburg offers a measured diet: leerburg.com/diet2.htm which you would have to scale down a bit but at least the numbers are there. I'm with the other raw feeders in that it can be really simple. I have a plan rather than a recipe. I don't measure other than to feel the dogs ribs and feed more or less. I cover the basics in nutrition, and offer a range of protein sources in amounts appropriate to their weights. I don't worry about any individual meal, I strive for balance over the long term to meet their needs. It is a big jump from the safety of what you've always done, in the the 'light' of raw feeding. But I don't think you'll regret it once you jump.

I'm not having any issues posting. This is so strange lately I don't know what is going on. I will take these problems up with support. If you guys could check out and see if you are having issues with the other boards and post it in this thread I'd appreciate it. I'm going to link back to this thread for support.

No problems with other threads on the board. And the bottom reply button is now back on this thread. It wasn't there the first time I replied, and that reply didn't show up in the most recent posts.

Be careful about supplementing with Cod Liver Oil in the summer though. Magda told me to only give it in the winter, because it can lead to an overdose of Vit. A in the summer. My dogs lie out in the sun a lot now, so I have quit giving it.
If the dog is given a variety of Raw Meaty Bones, with lots of muscle meat, eggs now and then, organ meats and some fish, they do not need supplements.
Like Aussienot said...you don't try to meet all their dietary requirements everyday, you do it over a period of time by feeding a variety of RMB's.

I will have to ask her about that When I told her that I was only giving one capsule daily like a vitamin she said that was fine The vet said to that it was a good thing because of the skin problems that Sibes can get. Thanks Loey I will have to check that out. Blade is not a sunbather of any sort so maybe with him that one capsule is OK

Like Aussienot said...you don't try to meet all their dietary requirements everyday, you do it over a period of time by feeding a variety of RMB's. This is exactly the genesis of my stress factor. I just don't know how to do that. But with all of my personal dieticians here I should catch on in about 10 years or so. ;D ;D Just kidding. I think we will be ok. I just will need help for awhile. Aussie, I saw Eds diet but he insists on giving several different daily supplements and I didn't know what to do/think about that. Thanks everyone for your support.

yeeeah. I think about that all the time amyjo...but the next thing that comes to my mind is that wolves and wild dogs really don't usually have that long of a life span either....
