Yea....another potential raw feeder!!!
I suggest you join the rawfeeding list with the link in the above post. There are people on there who have been feeding for many years and know all the *in's and outs* so to speak, although most everyone feeds a little differently.
There are many reasons why not to feed ki**le, besides just the grains. Below is a reply by someone from the list mentioned above:
-Good posting Valerie!
Firstly, I for one could care less that scientists have traced
modern dogs to a lone male wolf that lived in India. Todays
scientists have enough trouble tracing things back a week let alone
100,000 years and I don't say this with any malice towards you at
all. If we were to listen to today's scientists in some of their
findings, we would likely be eating nothing but cardboard.
Today's dogs are naturally accustomed to "kibble" because it wasn't
even around a number of years back. What better way for the large
manufacturers to establish a "cash cow" than to produce crap in the
form of a nugget and sprinkle a bunch of rancid fat or whatever else
happens to be available at the time to make it somewhat appealing to
our pets. To top it all off, they then charge $40.00 plus (in Canada
at least) for a bag of what some people will call "quality kibble".
I've never understood what "quality" kibble is. How is it different
from any other kibble? I guess we are to believe what the large
manufacturers of kibble tell us about their kibble. Well, I for one
will not believe one word they say. I confronted the 2 major players
in the kibble manufacturing business with my findings from 3
different labs showing the actual contents of their kibbles. This
took place a few years back after I had researched for over 4 years.
My cost to proove this point to them was inexcess of $6000.00 and I
don't regret spending any of that because I finally found out why so
many of my German Shepherd Dogs were dying of various types of
cancers and some other diet related problems. At the threat of a
lawsuit, I dropped my case plus they have a bit more money than I do.
I prefer to feed my dogs as healthy a diet as i can that doesn't
contain things such as euthanized animals, rubber, fecal materials,
wood, charcoal and the list can go on and on. This is a small part of
what was discovered in the labs I had sent their fine products to. It
was beyond comprehension. If you think back just a few years (10 to
35 years) and you know of a vet or two that has been in practice for
a lengthy time, they will be able to show you case after case of
problems they are seeing today that were far and few between years
ago.
I'll end with this: How long has kibble been on the market? How long
have we been vaccinating our pets each and every year of their short
lives?
Have a great day!
