Hiya, my fellow short bussers, it's been too long!!! After reading some of the posts, I see I'm not the only one who's happy 2006 is over , the last few months have been a bit tough here too. The Readers Digest version is my rheumatoid arthritis has flared up again, considerably worse than before, so I'm starting drug trials to see if we can't get it in check before I have any major organ damage done. Between that, my kids foot infection, and taking care of elderly family members, I was shot and took a break from being online. Oh, and I left Husky House, call it a disagreement over the way things were being done, but I could no longer be associated with the group without potentially harming my business, so the rescue world will have to do without me for a while . I'll eventually get back into it, and I needed a break anyway, but I still have Addie, my nutso foster pup (that nobody seems to want, boohoo) because I made a commitment to her when I agreed to foster her, but when she gets adopted, I'm done with Husky House unless things change. Richard, I hope you get a job that you deserve, nobody should be unhappy 5 days a week, Nicki, glad to hear Sunny is doing well after his surgery and postop, Brooke, where the hell are you Tater , Ann, I'm sorry to hear the RSDS is getting you down, but certainly not out with the help of Brody and that the boys are so far out of harms way overseas, Linda, I'm so, so sorry about Finn, my heart broke when I read that,, he's with good company over at the Bridge weaving through poles and going over jumps flawlessly, of that I'm sure, and to everyone else, get your fannies back here ;D! Ok, time for me to go and catch up with everyone, I've missed you !!

Hi Laura. Well it is certainly nice to "see" you. I have been wondering where you were. I am sorry about the flare up in your arthritis. I hope you can find relief. I know how debilitating and painful that must be. I hope you feel better soon and that you are stabilized!! How is your son's infection? is that still going on? I am also sorry about the rescue. You did so much for them and were so devoted. I hope they remain grateful to you despite what ever happened. I don't suppose you can tell us? ;D Thanks for your words about Sunny. He is hanging in there. Some days I want to rip his neck open and de-suture him myself. But I suppose I will wait for them to dissolve. It is such a ridiculous situation for sutures to have a 90 day half life. They should be gone by healing time!! I just had a stupid thing happen to me. I walked into a cob web and it went in my eye and I never felt it. I felt it hit my face which was gross but I did not feel it in my eye. So of course my eye blows up three times it's natural size and the doctor pulls out yards of cob web. Can you imagine not realizing that you have an entire cob web in your eye. I never felt a thing. It is much improved but I still look a bit freakish from the swelling. It seems everyone has been pretty busy and absent...myself included. Hopefully, we will all find the time to chit chat again soon. ;D

Hi Laura and Nicki! I agree that 2006 was not a good year, what with Kara's second ruptured ACL, my sister having kidney failure and going on dialysis, and other stressful things, but I am glad we are all still here. Laura, all the stress you have been under can cause a rheumatoid arthritis flare up, as you probably know....try to relax more! Easier said than done, I know...being kind of a hyper person myself who reacts to stress in negative ways! I had my systolic bp go pretty high and know it was the stress of trying to get things done around here to put our house on the market by Feb. lst., plus some other things, but of course it freaked me out, which made it worse and then the Dr. wanted to put me on a combination drug and when I read the side effects, (thankfully before I took it) one of which can be your throat swelling shut!!!!! I said "no way", because we live 20 miles from the nearest hospital!! I did a lot of research on bp and have completely changed my diet, learned how to do deep breathing exercises and also taking a whole food phytonutrient protocol. Thankfully, so far, it is working and steadily going down and I feel wonderful! A "side effect" of this protocol is that I am losing weight and my fibromylagia is 90% better already, plus other "good things" happening. Nicki....that is so weird about your eye! I have often not seen cobwebs across the path where I walk the dogs and had them go into my eye, but have never had anything like what happened to you happen! All I had was blurry vision for a few minutes until it dissolved or what ever happened to it! That is just so bizzare and I am glad you went to the Dr. and found out what the problem was and got the cobweb out. That spider must have had some very toxic spit! I think that is terrible what the Vet did to Sunny too and it makes me so angry! I think of the time Kara had a sore paw and the Vet dug around in her foot, which was sooooooo painful! My heart still breaks when I think of it, because she was so good, but I could tell the pain was unbearable for her! Then come to find out, after doing research myself, she had canine gout and not an infection! So......I for one was glad to ring in 2007 and let's hope it is better for all of us! ;D

Now I know why it's been so quiet around here..we've all got things on the go not only keeping us busy but challenging our minds, bodies and spirits. Laura, it's probably best you got out of the Husky House organization before you ended up in the hospital (trust me, I can identify with how much stress/pressure you must of been going through). Your health is more important and the people counting on you to be there are more important as well. I know you'll do what is right for everyone but remember, take care of yourself first. Loey, like the rest of us, your year seemed to be filled with ups and downs but you managed to stay focused but I'm glad to hear that you're getting your BP under control by taking control of your life (which is something I could benefit from right now!! ) so I figure you're on course for a better 2007 too. Nicki and I already talked about the spider web and what it's done to her eye. I've never heard of something like that happening. I guess it may just take time to cleanse itself out of the eye and I hope there won't be any other damage. Mind you, if you feel like jumping into a red spiderman costume and leaping from building to building by a spiders line, that could be a good thing too! Nah, just kiddin', I hope your eye gets better soon. I guess all I can say is that I hope my fellow SB'rs, along with the rest of the group here, get healthy if you need to, stay healthy and have a great 2007.

Geez, between Loey, Nicki and myself I think we could get a wing of a hospital named after us ! Nicki, that's just bizarre that a cobweb could hang around in the eye socket like that, I'll bet it felt strange being removed . My sons foot finally started to heal up on it's own, and it certainly didn't slow him down in school, he ended up with a 3.7 GPA his first semester of college, and we couldn't be prouder (and he is talking about going to medical school, that groaning sound you hear is our bank account ). My BP oddly enough is still 120/65, pretty good for somebody who lives on the thin line between busy and demented . Loey, good for you for staying away from the drug route for your BP, statins can do some damage in their quest to lower the BP, especially since it's usually so easy to control it with diet and exercise! As for Husky House, I'll PM my reasons for leaving for anyone who wants to know, since there are still Sibes that need homes, and I don't want to publicly throw them under the bus for that reason . Ok, now where is Brooke and Ann and Aussie, it's time for some updates!

WOOOOO WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D Your back GIRL ;D ;D Well I am so sorry to hear about your arthritis, that has to be so painfull. What clinical trials are they thinking of? Well whatever it is I hope you find something to help. YES PLEASE PM me about your departure from the rescue if it was anything like Loey's and mine from the Lab rescue I bet we have lots of things to share Nicki I think you should sign up to be on the MEDICAL INCREDIABLE SHOW That is SO STRANGE not knowing it was in there, well I am glad that they got it taken care of that must have been so uncomfortable. Loey I am glad you did not take the BP med, I know one of the meds they gave me when they were trying to curb the nerve pain was Lyrica and for some WEIRD REASON that caused swelling I felt like a weeble and when I wobble I DO FALL DOWN Laura is right about excersise and diet for BP and of course my favorite RAW CELERY I KNOW but REALLY IS DOES WORK Well good to see some action over here again. I don't spend much time at the computer like I use to sometimes even typing is very painful and sitting sucks too, but hopefully when 2007 gets rolling we will have some HAPPY THINGS TO SHARE. I sure hope so. OH and just for the record Paula Abdual DOES NOT HAVE RSD, I got information from Mayo the other day and an RSD Research Center disputing her claims that Enberl stopped her RSD, they were pretty strong in their comments that Enberl is for ARTHRITIS or MUSCULO SKELETAL (butchered that word pain not nerve pain, and that if she truley had RSD that drug might have actually made is worse . The issue is that they don't care if she says she has it, but they do not want others trying that drug and making themselves worse. There has been alot of talk about her and even though she did bring this problem to peoples attention she more than likely does not have it. I on the other hand am starting to get involved again when I can as far as joining a support group for people with TBI, RSD, and PTSD. You know I am finding that maybe there is a little fight left in me, but now it's just to find the energy to use it

Hey Ann, I accidentally left you out of the list of hospital wing donees! Paula Abdul really said she took Enbrel for RSD!? If she did, she's either a moron or her doctor is . Actually, I was on Embrel for a short trial run, and it did diddly. Nasty side effects too, I stopped taking it pronto, so now the rheumatologist is trying a combo of sulfasalzine and Anakinra, good thing I'm handy with a syringe and not sqeamish about injecting myself ;D. And I'll PM you the recsue stuff that went on, it was a doozy at the end .

Don't get me started on the misuse of drugs! When a person has a problem that is the first thing Dr.'s do....prescribe a drug, which does not cure the problem and eventually will cause more problems...so...what is done then? Another drug is prescribed, instead of trying to find out what the underlying cause of the problem is and taking care of that! So many physical/mental problems are caused by poor diet, and in the case of prescribed drugs, that too. Take "high" blood pressure as an example. If drug manufacturer's and Dr.'s can convince every one that they are "sick" and need a bp med. to lower their bp, it brings in billions of dollars. That is why the figures for "normal" blood pressure keep going down. They want every one on meds. It started out that 160/80 was "normal", then it went down to 140/80, 120/80 and now Dr.'s want your bp to be 115/75, yet in all the studies they did there was no evidence that higher systolic bp caused stroke/heart attack! In fact, if your bp is low and your heart stops, they cannot bring you back. My sister said two Dr.'s told her that. It is the same with cholesterol medication. In all the studies people with the lowest cholesterol actually had the same amount or more heart attacks then people with higher cholesterol. In fact, in the case of women, as they age, they need higher cholesterol to remain healthy! They are now prescribing cholesterol medication for children, when simply limiting the junk food and soda and getting them away from their video games would "cure" them. Bottom line it is all the refined foods we are eating (sugar/grains) and the gallons of soft drinks we are drinking. If you drink one soft drink a day, it inhibits what ever calcium you take that day from being asborded. That is why so many people with arthritis get the calcium deposits on elbows, knees etc. Then the Dr. tells you you have too much calcium, and gives you a drug to combat that, which only makes matter's worse. It's enough to make my bp go up. ;D I could go on and on and you all know I am good at that, but I will get off my soap box now. Ann...I have been eating celery every night and my a.m. bp has dropped. p.s. Of course we can't forget the fact that people are at fault too, for this " drug happy" society we live in, because even if the Dr. would give them a choice....which a lot do, to be perfectly honest, to change their life styles or go on drugs, most choose the drugs, because they do not want to give up the food/drinks they are addicted to and want a "quick fix" instead of working at it.

I wonder if I told my husband that he would begin eating it. I doubt it, he an aversion to anything green. I have to sneak the veggies into casseroles just to get him to eat them. His mother nearly fell over when my husband told her that he was eating green beans now. She could never get him to eat anything green when he was younger. He once refused to eat a slice of cheesecake that had green food coloring (st pat day pie)in it. I am glad everyone is feeling positive about the New Year. I hope everything works out for the best for all.

My husband is the same way. He gets so mad at me when I refuse to take aspirin for a headache. I do not like taking any medicine unless I have to. On the few occasions I do resort to medicine he knows I am REALLY not feeling well. I have managed to get him to eat fruits. I have to cut them up for him and stick cool whip on top. He doesn't need to know its fat free cool whip though.

Hi all!!! Speaking of "I'm back". I got an email from Ann recently and it prompted me to take a peak back at the dog den. I think we've finally tuned a corner at home, my son's in school, doing well, I'm working out of state and so's my husband, we do see a move in the future.... Any way, "HI!!!" ;D
